I had a similar experience as another reviewer. I hired Irene Mack based on the positive Google reviews and my initial contact with her..... which was great! At the very beginning of the year, I contacted her office and spoke with Irene over the phone at great length before hiring her. She came across as knowledgeable, straightforward, and easy to speak and work with, so I decided to make an in-person appointment and retain her for tax preparation services. Unfortunately, my experience did not match the positive reviews. I provided all necessary documents to ensure my taxes could be filed on time. In fact, her office had everything they needed in mid-February uploaded into their online portal to complete the tax return. Despite having ample time, she filed an extension without notifying me or getting my approval first — a serious breach of trust. She failed to communicate all together after our 1st in person visit and a retainer was paid. NO return emails or return phone calls despite my many attempts to find out what was going on. Even more concerning, she failed to submit both my IRS and state payments, which she had agreed to handle for the deadlines. This led to penalties & interest fee's that could have been completely avoided with proper follow-through and communication. I hired her expecting professional, timely service and instead I received poor communication and missed deadlines. I would not recommend her to anyone who values accountability and clear follow-up on critical tax matters. This has been one of the most frustrating and disappointing professional experiences I’ve had period.

I hired Irene Mack when several people recommended her on Nextdoor. I contacted her office sometimes in late March. She answered the phone, Initially she helped me at length, on the phone, without even being hired. I had already done my income tax for this year but did not file it as I had questions. She told me to file an extension, pay what I believed I owed, and she will review my tax report, and file it on my behalf. I did not hear from her again. I called her office in May and she gave me an appt. I went to her office and met with her, went over the report at length. She explained a lot, in details and we agreed report was complete and she would invoice me and file it. Since then, I did not hear from her, Despite many calls and texts total silence. I hate to give her such a dismal review, but I’m now at my wits end and don’t know what to do.

So my family has been seeing Irene for the last few years. Up until this year, her service was good, we liked her meetings with her. It seems like there has been some kind of communication breakdown since maybe about Fall of last year. It's hard to get ahold of her and her reception just brushes you off without getting you any answers. I got a concerning letter talking about money still due, I called maybe 2-3 times asking for some direction with at least a month of time before it was due. I eventually just paid the amount since it wasn't too steep, and I didn't want to deal with tax issues. They did eventually tell me, day it was due, that I should've been fine and it shouldn't have been due yet? This year they couldn't get our taxes done by April and had us file for an extension. For reference, we don't own any businesses, nothing that would make our taxes more complicated. It was totally infuriating to get absolutely no communication from Irene as MONTHS passed. We would reach out every few weeks just hoping for some kind of explanation of what's going on. In October we were literally told "she will call you back as soon as she gets the program up." Did not hear back. That's genuinely what bothered me the most. If your company was the one that dropped the ball with someone's taxes, I would at least hope for updates with what's going on versus us just feeling totally forgotten the entire time. After the middle of October my parents had to set up an in person meeting to finally get an answer if our taxes even ever got filed. I got hit with a failure to file fee and failure to pay due to an issue with my taxes. I genuinely hope this was just the one-off year, but unfortunately, I don't think I can trust my taxes to be done here again.

My first experience with Irene was terrible. I had to pull my taxes from her and take them to another CPA. It's August now, and my taxes should have been completed months ago, but she constantly missed deadlines with excuses. I selected Irene because of all of the positive reviews but ultimately was wrong.

Irene is a professional who knows the IRS better than they know themselves. She keeps you informed of all the new changes and not only prepares your taxes but helps you plan during the year to make them the best they can be. Within 30 seconds of talking to Irene you will know she is your new tax CPA.
