Big thank you to Arthur and the Universal Builders team for making this project so easy for us. Arthur stayed in touch the entire time and made sure everything moved along without issues. The roof came out clean, sharp, and exactly how we hoped it would look. We appreciated the professionalism and how quickly everything was completed.

We were honestly nervous about starting a roofing project because of past experiences we’ve had with contractors, but Universal Builders made the process feel very easy. They actually answered calls, kept us updated, and showed up when they said they would. The crew worked hard every day and finished faster than we expected without cutting corners. You can tell they care about the quality of their work.

After dealing with roof issues for quite some time, we finally decided to move forward with Universal Builders and it was the best decision. Joe was knowledgeable, honest, and easy to work with throughout the entire project. The team walked us through the process, answered all of our questions, and delivered exactly what they promised. The craftsmanship on the roof looks excellent and the attention to detail really stands out. We appreciated how professional and reliable everyone was from start to finish.

We bought a house a few years ago with some issues, and it’s been one problem after another. Recently, our chimney started leaking whenever we had heavy rain. I did my due diligence and called three contractors—not only to compare pricing, but also to gauge experience and get a sense of trust and assurance. Hiring a contractor for a big job can be nerve-wracking, especially in construction where there can be so much ambiguity.
Out of the three, Arthur, the project manager at Universal Builder, was the most professional and made me feel the most at ease. From the beginning, he took the time to walk me through the steps they would take to locate the problem and explain exactly how they would fix it. If something didn’t go as scheduled, he would personally call to reassure me and make sure everything was addressed until I was satisfied—and it was. He was upfront abut the pricing from the beginning, they are not the cheapest but they are not the most expensive either. depending on the job, you don't want to always go with the cheapest contractors and end up with no insurance, and a crappy job. I eneded up getting part of my roof fixed and a brand new Chimney Cap for a very good price.
In the construction world, it can be hard to find true professionalism you can count on. I would absolutely recommend Arthur to anyone.

We hired Universal Builders for a home renovation (paint, kitchen, bathrooms, flooring), and the experience was terrible. The project timeline more than doubled, often with only one worker present. We ultimately paid the final invoice with some work still unfinished, and—predictably—it was never completed. We knew better than to do that, but the "project fatigue" got to us to the extent that we really just needed to be done with them.
Biggest issue: Much of the electrical work was unsafe and not to code, requiring about $10,000 in corrective repairs by a licensed electrician. We have photos, documentation, and dated materials proving responsibility. Potentially putting a family at risk of fire like this should be criminal - I have no idea how inspections were passed. Paint quality was sloppy (there are still paint splatters on the floors), concrete steps were poured unevenly (only offered a discount on the work instead of fixing), hardwood floors were damaged (they ultimately did repair this and the hardwood floors look good), extremely sloppy tile work with way too much grout used in many, many places) and crews routinely left trash across the property. Personal property went missing and promised reimbursement was never provided. Antique door hardware was lost. Poor supervision, zero quality control (unless you include all the QC work we had to do as the homeowners), and disorganized materials management.
Based on our experience, we strongly recommend avoiding this company at all cost.
