Cesar, the intake guy, talks to you as if he’s the attorney, confidently promising victories and “strong defenses” before anyone has even reviewed a single document. He immediately pushed the $250 consultation fee and a $2,500 retainer, assuring me the consultation would be applied toward representation. I uploaded all documents as instructed, including serious defenses like: • A city citation against the landlord for habitability violations • Fraudulent inducement • Unlicensed individuals executing the lease • Multiple safety and habitability issues When the actual attorney finally called (late), he hadn’t reviewed anything.
