My wife and I recently hired KDOC Construction of Newport Beach to replace our 54-year-old second-story balcony, and the experience exceeded every expectation we had. From start to finish, James Kennedy and his outstanding team completed a truly flawless project. In an industry where finding contractors who consistently do what they promise can be challenging, James and KDOC Construction were exceptional. They delivered everything they committed to—on time, on budget, and with remarkable attention to detail. This was not an easy project or one designed simply to give us a fresh, clean appearance with new materials. KDOC Construction needed to replace beams decaying with dry rot, and they installed at least double the number of original joists to further strengthen the structure. The new balcony is rock solid. Safety and good looks, a winning combination! The quality of workmanship was superb. The materials used were clearly top-notch, and every aspect of the project reflected pride, craftsmanship, and professionalism. Just as impressive, the crew arrived on time every day for the entire three-week project and maintained a clean, organized worksite, carefully cleaning up at the end of each day. Working with James and his crew was an absolute pleasure. He communicated clearly throughout the project, was responsive to every question, and demonstrated the kind of integrity and professionalism that is increasingly rare today. He also has automated the quotation and billing side of his business. We never had to wait for information. We could not be happier with the final result. Our new balcony looks fantastic, and we have complete confidence in the quality of the work. We fully intend to use James and KDOC Construction again for future construction and renovation projects. I simply cannot say enough good things about KDOC Construction. If you are looking for a general contractor who delivers exceptional quality, keeps his promises, and genuinely cares about his clients, I recommend James Kennedy and KDOC Construction without hesitation.

James and his team at KDOC went above and beyond for our family. Our deck was leaking into our garage and our back awning was also no longer stable. Honest and straight forward in the estimate process. Did not try to oversell us. Clean and thorough work and workers. They kept all materials and workers out of the house utilizing ladders and crane to get all supplies onto our balcony. Fixed the leaking deck and replaced all materials, including cosmetic beams to keep the design cohesive. Also secured the awning over the backyard that was also unstable. I would use the team at KDOC Construction again anytime, BUT won't need too since they did such an amazing job. Thank you James!

We had a leaking deck wrapping around our living room. I called KDOC, and James came out to visit me the same day. Within a day or two, he provided me with three quotes, giving me good, better, and best options. I chose the route I wanted to take, and we got the work scheduled. James and his crew got the entire job done in two weeks, something I didn’t think was possible. His team was hard-working and professional the entire time they were at our house, and we are very pleased with our new deck.

Owner James and his team were solid, they showed up prompt daily, exceeded our expectations from a quality of work standpoint, James and his team were professional throughout, and they delivered. If you are considering having a deck built/re-built, just read the years worth of reviews here, you will see a consistent trend of no less than 5-stars.

We recently contracted with KDOC Construction to rebuild our two outdoor cantilever decks. This was a challenging project as the decks were 35' and 25' off the ground, respectively. Both were original construction with considerable damage from the coastal environment. We interviewed over ten contractors before meeting with James, the owner. James was the first and only contractor who fully understood the scope of the project and offered creative solutions for the demo and construction process that included multiple choices of materials that met our vision and budget. He managed every step of the project efficiently keeping the timeline on schedule. His crew was excellent. All were skilled carpenters who worked together as a team very well. They arrived everyday promptly at 7am, were polite, respectful and cleaned up the site at the end of each day leaving our house quite livable during the construction. We are very pleased with the outcome. Every detail is first class. We are happy to give KDOC Construction our highest recommendation.
