This company is dishonest and unresponsive. As a business owner, they not only ignored my instructions and made many errors, but they also wasted my time and set my small business back by about $15,000. When I tried to talk to the owner of the business, he and his assistant's both would not respond. Stay away from this company!

Screwed me! My accounting is absolutely wrong and they charged a lot for it. No one from this company returns call nor emails. Now I have to pay for the work to be done correctly by someone else.

In 2024, I decided to hire a bookkeeping company because my business has grown to a point where I cannot manage the bookkeeping myself any more. I interviewed three different companies and eventually decided I'd like to hireJohnston Accountancy. The owner Ian Johnston asked me to give him a logging to my QuickBooks so he could assess my needs, put together a plan, and quote a price. Ian quote me a price, and on February 10, 2025, I emailed him statingI'd like to start services. Ian was many times very slow to respond to me, to the point where Summer rolled around, and we hadn't started services yet. I also got busy and sometimes took a week or two to respond to him, admittedly. At the beginning of August, Ian had not yet had started working, and he said yes. I asked how? We didn't have a contract in place yet. He said he'd get it to me.Multiple times throughout the process, I requested not to have his team start work without them meeting with me first, but he disregarded this request and had them start work without our having an agreed upon contract. Ian's team made many mistakes, the biggest of which was they marked bills I'd paid for clients of mine as my own business expenses, instead of billable expenses my clients would reimburse. As a result of I'am errors, I have now lost a client who was paying my firm $1,000 per month to manage their property. Also, my books are now in shambles, and I need to find a new bookkeeping company to fix all the errors Ian's team made. This is going to be very costly for me, not to mention the fact thatI wanted bookkeeping services to start nine months ago. This whole situation has derailed the trajectory of my company. Additionally, I've asked Ian a number of times to meet with me to discuss this and part ways amicably. It is no surprise to me that I haven't heard back from him in weeks.

Ian and his staff are EXTREMELY professional and friendly. I have been doing my own books for the past 15+ years and only recently have I decided to find someone else to do them. In my search I contacted MANY agencies, most of which don't bother calling back and/or only want email communication. Ian and his staff have a personal touch and interest in your company that is exceptional! The reason I have been doing my own books for many years is that I am extremely detailed and was hesitant to let someone else do them. After meeting with Ian I decided to give him the opportunity and I am very happy I did!
