Atlas helped us build a duplex and the experience was a breeze all the way through. As a small family company, they really took the time to understand my goals, worries, and it never felt uneasy. They were great to work with, very knowledgeable, professional, and got the job done quick!

I cannot be convinced that this is a professional company. They were hired to build ADUs at the apartment complex I live at in Escondido and there have been a lot of issues with the crews working on site. They finished well behind schedule. Dave Arnold told me they’d be done by January 1. That wasn’t true. They didn’t end up finished until mid April. They built the new structure the minimum legal distance from the exterior wall of my apartment. I come home one day to see one of the workers CUTTING OFF A PORTION OF THE OVERHANG ON MY APARTMENT. I asked the worker what was going on and he told me that the plans got messed up and buildings were too close together so they had to cut a part of my roof. A few weeks prior to this I overheard the city inspector while he was he on the property. He said “that’s too close” while referring to the distance between my overhang and the new structure that they just built. I called Dave, one of the owners of the company, for clarification. He blamed it on the city inspector by saying that his plans were correct and that the city inspector was being nit-picky but insisted that he was in the right. They hired a third party company to erect the frame of the new structure. At the end of each work day, the crew of framers would hang out in our parking lot and slam beers for over an hour. Drinking in the parking lot was consistent throughout the entirety of the time they were here. The plumbers they hired were responsible for flooding my apartment. They were working on the pipes and had to place a test plug into the pipes. They didn’t take the plug out when they left for the weekend. This backed up the system and ended up flooding my apartment. What kind of professionals would make a major mistake like that? The emergency plumber that came out to fix the issue just laughed at the incompetence of the plumbers hired to work here. This company really doesn’t care about who their worksite is affecting and they don’t even make an attempt to hide that. They’re well behind schedule for their project here and to make up for that they have their crews here late during the week, on some Sundays, and even on federal holidays. Construction in the city of Escondido is not permitted on Sundays or holidays unless it’s by the homeowner. Atlas Construction is not the owner of this property therefore they are not allowed to working on those days. But they do anyway because they don’t care enough to 1. Research the area they are working and 2. Listen to the residents that live here or property management. They made a complete mess of the property and barely cleaned up. They dirtied the existing buildings and instead of cleaning repainting they only painted half of the walls at an attempt to clean up. There’s a long laundry list of other issues but those are the main problems that we’ve had. Dave has told me on numerous occasions that they’re a “professional company” but if you have to plead that to someone that makes me believe otherwise. They don’t have much a presence online in terms of reviews. Their website only provides positive reviews (obviously). To be completely honest, I wouldn’t trust this company to even demolish something the right way. They’d find a way to mess that up too. Overall, they do things cheap and it reflects in their work. I find it funny that the group of guys that started the project was completely different by the time they finally finished. If you want a group of unprofessionals to butcher a project for you definitely hire Atlas.

After near 10 years, the house that they have remodeled is still outstanding in the zipcode 92067 Fairbanks Ranch neighborhood.
